Last term, all JSS2 students of The Best Legacy Schools actively participated in a practical lesson on soil and agriculture. Each student planted bean seeds in loamy soil inside transparent containers, allowing them to observe root and shoot development.
Within just two weeks, the seeds germinated successfully, demonstrating the importance of proper soil selection for plant growth. During the experiment, students encountered minor challenges, including pest interference and learning to avoid overwatering, which provided valuable hands-on experience in caring for plants.
This practical not only helped students understand the different types of soil and their role in agriculture, but also encouraged responsible plant care and observation skills, making it an engaging and educational experience for all.
