SS1, SS2 & SS3 Clash at Dee Best Legacy School Debate Competition

🏆 Dee Best Legacy School : Secondary School Debate Competition



Today, Dee Best Legacy School hosted an exciting and intellectually engaging Secondary School Debate Competition featuring students from SS1, SS2, and SS3.

The motion debated was:

Vocational training should be mandatory for secondary school students.”

Students were judged based on:

  • Introduction
  • Volume
  • Points
  • Composure
  • Conclusion



Each class was represented by two debaters, making it a competitive and thought-provoking session.

🎤 The Debaters

🔹 SS1 Representatives


  • Ikarende Azeem
  • Olaoluwa Esther

SS1 opposed the motion.

Azeem presented one key point alongside his teammate Esther.

🔹 SS2 Representatives

  • Oshodi Esther
  • Ahmed Rodiat


SS2 supported the motion.

Oshodi Esther listed the following points:

  1. Bridge the gap between theory and practice
  2. Help develop essential life skills
  3. Discover passion
  4. Real-life examples of vocational experts (Hida Bacci, Udem, and Kemi Lewis)


Ahmed Rodiat, as the supporting speaker, presented:

  1. It equips students with self-confidence
  2. Academic path does not suit all students
  3. Creativity
  4. Exposure to career choice
  5. Promotes real-life experience

SS3 opposed the motion.


Fortunate mentioned the following points:


  1. Foundational paradigm
  2. Career uncertainty
  3. Overburdened curriculum
  4. Academic negligence
  5. Hunger for money

🌟 A Remarkable Experience

It was inspiring to see mostly female debaters confidently take the stage, with only one male representative — from SS1 — among the participants.


The competition showcased confidence, preparation, courage, and academic excellence across all classes.
